One of the biggest misconceptions about working out is that you won’t get results unless you spend hours in the gym training each specific muscle group. But the truth is, there are a number of exercises that challenge and strengthen every muscle in your body all at once. The dead-lift, for example, works all of the muscles of the lower body, such as the quadriceps and hamstrings, to initiate the lift. However, in order to stabilize you, the muscles of your core - including your abs and your spinal erectors - will also be heavily engaged. Finally, the muscles of the upper body will be used to hold the bar, involving everything from your fingers all the way up your arms and ending at your trapezius on top of your shoulders. Almost any exercise where you are lifting a barbell from the floor is going to work just about every muscle in your body! So they’re perfect for anyone who doesn’t have a lot of time to spend in the gym. For even more ways to maximize your time at the gym, check out other videos in this series.
